Historical Development

National Police Academy (NPA) formerly known as Central Police Training Centre (CPTC) established on the onset with the police regulation of 1993. Central Police Training Centre (CPTC) was laid its foundation on 1956 and has its distinction as only an institute to train police force.

In its inception CPTC had remained engaged in training only the constable level within limited resources and training facilities. Now, changing trend of policing as per the changed political context has demanded well versed and qualified police officers to meet the public expectations. As all of us agree that Democratic Policing pattern is the tested and the best policing module, which demands equally competent, honorable and accountable police officers for its delivery. NPA's prime responsibility apparently lies in developing professional competency of the senior police officers through conducting foundation as well as advance training courses.

The NPA is the apex body of all Nepal   Police Training Institutions in the country. Its goal is to develop quality human resources for Nepal Police to achieve organizational and individual objectives with a strong commitment of service and responsibility to the people. The Academy is set to be the 'Centre for Excellence' and is committed to expand its resource base through tie-ups with similar institutions in and outside the country. Inspector Basic Training 178th Batch Inaugurated

Inspector Basic Training of 178th batch commenced in National Police Academy is inaugurated by the Director of Junior Police officer college Deputy Inspector General of Police Mr Rana Bahadur Chand.
A total number of forty one inspector trainees including four lady officers are inaugurated. The total duration of this training is sixteen months. The trainees will go through the non-credit course as well as credit course (Post Graduate Diploma in Police Sciences) which is affiliated to Tribhuvan University. Different skill development schemes like motor driving, equitation, swimming are are included in this course.
Apart from this, the training also introduces the adventure sports like rock climbing, and the most interesting part of the training includes different visits, field attachment(practical training), and Desh Darshan(study cum cultural tour).
National Police Academy believes in the skill development training as it builds immense confidence along with the theoretical knowledge.

The inauguration was followed by the plantation programme in the premise of Academy by Deputy Inspector General of Police Rana Bahadur Chand, senior police officers of Academy and trainees themselves.
